Default New to the forum! And 951s!

Hey guys! I found this forum, while looking for porsche information on the 951s, and came across this website!

I currently own a 1988 Mazda RX-7Turbo 2. (not stock) And Im in a market for porsche 951 Turbo. I have a few questions.

What Kind of power should I be expecting out of a stock 944 ? How Much PSI of boost should I be getting ?

Also what are some problems I should look at for ? Besides the Timing Belt ?

What are some other good websites for information that I can look up? Also, what is a good company that sells aftermarket porsche 944s modifications ? Do they have a website ?

As for mods, I was wondering what should be my first few mods ? Im very familar with differnt brand names and mods when it comes to Rx7s, for rx7s, are main problem is Fuel Management. Rx7s Hit Fuel Cut FAST. Should I worry about getting a Bigger flowing Fuel Pump, and bigger injectors ? I was thinking, getting a full exhaust system (what brand?) to start off with. But can you guys help me out on this issue, when it comes to 944s, and mods ?

Stock, a non S 951 makes 217hp and a 951S(limited edition '88 and all '89's) makes 247.

HI! welcome to the forum! Check out Speedforceracing.com, Gururacing.net, vitesseracing.com, I think you'll find what you're looking for there. I'm going to be buying a vitesse stage 3 kit pretty soon and I expect over 400 to the wheels. There are guys that beat vipers easily with these cars. These cars have lots of potential, and are pretty quick stock. When I had my 951 with only chips and only 16 psi of boost, I beat my cousins modified third gen rx7. I stayed very very close with my cousins new E 46 M3. With mods you should expect getting bigger injectors. I'm sure if you speak with the professionals, they should answer your questions. Good luck.

I think to get any actual performance gains you need to go from the turbo back with exhaust mods. From what I've heard, a cat-back will only be for better sound and maybe a little quicker spool up.

One of the best places to start is: http://www.connactivity.com/~kgross/FAQ/944faq.html

Take a look at the "First Time Buyer" section.

Also, this link is to an old "Grass Roots Motorsports" article on 944's with similar info to the FAQ link.

http://www.grmotorsports.com/944.html

And then, just keep reading this board....

Sfr looks good. Lindsey Racing has one that performs as good, not as shiney though.

Our engines don't blow as fast as TII's. But I think 951s are sexy cars to drive.

Thank you for the welcome! Here is a list on the first 4 things I wanna do to the car when I get it. Anything else that anybody would reccomend would be great. Again thanks for the help.

1.) Make sure the car is Mechnically in tip top shape.
2.) SFR Full exhaust. (Down Pipe, Test Pipe, Catback)
3.) Gururacing Chip.
4.) Break, and Suspension upgrades.

I think replacing your diverter valve and upgrading your wastegate would yield much more power than doing an exhaust. If either of those are leaking or not functioning properly, you will not be able to hold any boost! Thus a new exhaust and chips would be a waste until your car can properly hold boost. Just my 0.02 cents,

intake and exhaust then chips then turbo and injectors maybe westgate if yours is weak. lindsey makes a cost effective full system from what it looks like don't know if anyone has tried it though, there is a post about it. Guru seems to make the best chips

Here's a link to a great research tool (thanks Karl):

Weissach.net

You should be able to find plenty of information here.

I thought the best bang for the buck would be chips before intake & exhaust, no?
