Hey, it's just opinions here. While you're at it, you can also switch your 951 nose over to the 968 and so on

They're actually barely high enough so that the very low seated driver can see anything higher than other cars' hubcaps. Like has been said, if you don't like the '80s look, get a more modern Porsche.

Here we go that's what it will look like - go for it - but then again I am biased.

Me? I like the looks of the 968 mirrors and door handles. Do suggest keeping the old ones just in case you sell to a "stock" kinda guy (or gal). I just wish I could figure out how to install them...

What do you mean by the scoop? If you mean the hollowness between spoiler and glass it's a late 944S2 and TS spoiler or 968 if you prefer - that's the way they are.

I think the aero mirrors totally transform the car... 968 door panels are my 1st LOOKS mod (although that's INTERIOR), but mirrors are a close 2nd. Installing mirrors wasn't too bad, thanks to Keith's how-to. They're smaller & save ~5lbs total- NICE- & WILL help top speed, although how much is open for debate...

Those Ferrari mirrors appear to be ALL body color AND are slightly smaller. The mirrors on the 944 in the ad don't appear to have any black trim around the edges & they also look a hair smaller- maybe a pre-production pic(?)- I still like aeros better. Flag mirrors are too bulky IMO. Someone posted a spy pic awhile back, of the then "new" 944- it mentioned the 928ish rear end. Sine most people seem to prefer the 968 rear w/the 944 nose, I think many of you would REALLY like it- it had flag mirrors too- 944 handles I think, but, MAY have been painted(?)- it was B&W... I was always the opposite though. I liked the 968 nose w/exposed, roll-forward, headlights but the 951 rear. BUT, I've come to like the 968 rear & 951 front, BOTH a little more, so now, I could take a 951 or 968 w/either OR, mixed or matched in ANY way, shape, or form- ALL Porsche's are beautiful to me

968 handles are a nice upgrade too, but, I'd do the mirrors first. If I had it to do over, I'd probably PAINT my 951 handles, as other's have mentioned- it looks really nice- not quite as nice as 968s, but MUCH simpler- UNLESS you can DEFINATELY install them, or get someone who HAS to help you, then I would skip them. I'm EXTREMELY annoyed b/c I STILL can't get my locks to work right! I've been told that the dealer would have done the whole job for only ~2hrs total- if true, then that's the deal- Hell, I'd almost pay that much just to get my locks fixed

Simon- that car is beautiful! The ONLY thing I'd do to it is remove the door gaurds- just my opinion- they don't look bad- I just think the car looks cleaner & smoother w/OUT- MY paint looks too bad to do it right now though- clear coat's cracking- means I need to repaint the whole damn car The spoiler looks nice, although I really like the 951 spoiler too- no more, no less, but... Did you replace the whole hatch w/a 968? I notice the edge around the glass is body color as opposed to black- I just filpped through some 968 pics & have seen some w/body color & some w/OUT- do people just paint over the trim around the edges or was it an option, or what? Looks great though! BEAUTIFUL car! The hollow spoke type twist wheel is my favorite on these cars too...

HEy Simon,

The term 'what's the scoop' is American slang, sorry. it means, "what's the story", "tell me about the spoiler", etc.

you have a great looking car.

Have you ever seen a 951 with spoler removed?

I've seen plenty more futile threads than this one on Rennlist!

SimonK, how about a front view, like Thom's?

Yes.

OK this is the way it is - I will spare you some discovery moments.

My car already had the late S2/TurboS/968 spoiler - I just colour coded the spoiler.

However here is the horror story.

On my previous Porsche 89 I had the rubber spoiler. I bought a 968 spoiler and as we took the rubber one off we realised that the 968 type will not fit. There are 2 brackets at the bottom of the frame which are not there on pre 90 models (S2 and the TurboS). We decided we won't weld due to aluminum frame and also we would never be precise enough to make it a good fit.

So we bought a used 968 hatch - which would make it a straight fit and proved less hassle.

We fitted the new 968 hatch / spoiler and then we realised that the hatch had a kink in it - it was bloody bent - so slightly we didn't noticed off car but it was bent enough for water to enter from the side.

Pissed off - options?

We took the glass off straighten the frame and reglued the glass - I never want to this job again in my entire life!

So get a good 968 hatch and the spoiler - make sure it's straight - usually a slight prang from the rear will kink it. Keep it simple and change the whole bloody thing.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Thom that the aero mirrors are to round relative to the square shape of the 944.
100% agree :
