968 mirrors & door handles

I once read something about the rounded mirrors allowing the top speed of the car to be 3 or 4 mph faster. I believe it was from an interview with a factory engineer. I think the article was about 911's ... but it may apply here.

Totally go for the mirrors. They are a 110% improvement over the square flag mirrors in two ways.
1. they are more areodynamic and smoother...i.e. soften the lines of the 951. flat out look better IMO
2. the passenger side is a convex wide angle mirror providing much better visibility.
Personally, i'd recommend buying new, unless you can find them at dirt.
new ones have NEW motors, primed ready to paint, ready to put together and install. i found the new ones to be $25 more than ratty old used ones, quoted by the used parts places ($350).
with the PCA discount they were $75 less. sunset, $375 OEM 968 mirrors delivered.
my 2 cents.

No I have not seen an 84 GTO. I do not know if rounded, wide angle view mirrors would improve it.
However, as a fact, wide angle mirrors are an improvement over flat ones. As an opinion, the areodynamic mirrors look better than the flat ones.
If there is a pic of a GTO with flag type mirrors, as well as a pic of a GTO with rounded mirrors, then I'd know my opinion for sure. With no pics I would say rounded over flat as my opinion.

Burning Brakes
Porsche produced a retrofit kit for the door mirrors. It includes everything and only has one part number. Has anyone got the part numbers for the door handles ? (its my next step, love the mirrors BTW)

The 288 GTO is considered by many auto connoisseurs to be the quintessential '80s sportscar design, and the stock 944 mirrors are very similar to those on this superbabe of sportscars. It is the culmination of the 308-328 F-car design which clearly inspired Harm Lagaay and Tony Lapine in the 944 design to a considerable extent. IMHO, and given that our opinion was asked in this thread, if flag mirrors were good enough for the 288 GTO, they're good enough for me.

288 GTO overrated in many ways...mirrors also but ugly and stand up about 6 inches too high. Of course, opinions are like A*holes.
