Part it out, make a few bucks, and buy yourself a proper 951.

I got the car yesterday. It is definitely rough, but I've started with worse. I haven't decided what to do yet. There's no rust besides some light surface rust underneath and the exhaust tip. The interior is worse than I thought. Given that I want to do a full build and not have a stock 951, it may still make a decent starting point (for the price). Maybe it just needs to be a track rat...

I'm rooting for you to restore it! From the sounds of it, I think your just the man for the job with this car. Create some good memories and most of all have some fun. Good luck!

That's what I'm thinking! At the end of the day, it's only time and money. While I may not have an abundance of either, I've got enough to make it interesting and enjoy myself. Thx for the encouragement....

I'm all about restoring a car, but there are far better examples to start from. You could part Zthis thing out and probably clear a couple thousand dollars profit and then roll that into getting a four to $4-5k 944 Turbo that would be a much better starting point than this.

I just foresee dumping a lot of money into this car and not having it change much...

I'm in the car for about 2800, plus I spent 400 on a rebuilt and o-ringed head. If I could part out the motor, transaxle and wheels/tires for close to what I have in it then it probably be the best bet financially. From there I would have the shell, body parts, some decent interior bits, suspension, brakes, ECU etc. My time is free so I don't care about that, just need to be certain there is enough value in the car in parts for it to make sense.
