Chances of oil filter housing gasket leaking oil?

Ended up being the oil galley plug (covered in another thread)

the oil filter housing is leaking at the block. I have the same issue, the gasket is $15. Labor to pull it is a full day, you have to pull the headers to get it out.

It is a real pain to get to the console, so that you can take it off. I just removed mine last weekend. You have to remove the power steering pump, drop the sway bar bracket, heat shield, etc. However, I did NOT have to remove the header. After I cleaned up the console with a Dremel, it was apparent that some corrosive pitting had occurred along the sealing channel. I will reassemble with some grey RTV sealant in addition to the new gasket. Should be good for another 30 years!

A little closure on my repair...I got everything sealed back up and no more leaks! It was a bit of a pain, but it is very satisfying not to see a single drop, of any kind of fluid, underneath the car.
