FS feeler: sleeved S2 block + JE 8v pistons
Want to gauge interest in this... Sleeved S2 block with matching JE pistons, stock 3.0 pin height. Add your crank and rods and make a 3.0 turbo. Only a few hours run time before being torn down again due to tuning problems. Want to make my own 3.0, but everything has a price... Also have 968 crank needing repair for extra.
Willing to sell pistons separately to someone with their own block to be sleeved. Bought block+pistons second-hand but was told only about 5 hours run time on these pistons. My sketchy micrometer shows actual bore at 4.127 or 4.128".
In the more immediate-term I think a regular 2.5 factory-style turbo engine will work for me - 3.0 not needed yet for my uses.
Aiming for $1800+ship for block+pistons, but open to offers, or maybe work out a trade for a running 2.5 951 engine.

Any idea who did the machining on the block?
Do you know what reasons they were having problems with when "tuning" went wrong?
Do the pistons show any signs of damage from the tuning problems?
ie - condition of skirts, pitting on face of pistons.
Does the block have balance shaft covers and oil filter assembly along with block?

Burtonsville machine in Maryland, favored shop of a highly regarded rennlist member/engine builder.
You can see no pitting on the piston crowns on my last picture. I'll take a picture of the skirts tomorrow. No damage was done.
Tuning was a software problem- this motor was run for 5 hours and disassembled. New engine was built with the same engine management kit, had the same problems.
Block has matched crank girdle and balance shaft covers, no oil cooler parts. Any filter mount will work, but you need the late style oprv.
