Default R&R for 951 Power Steering Pump to Rack Hose

The hose from the power steering pump to the rack is leaking, so I need some tips for replacing it. It looks like the end of the hose that attaches to the rack connects up high towards the steering column knuckle, so does the rack need to be removed first?

Also, I noticed the part is about $100 from Pelican or other comparable Porsche parts dealers (for an aftermarket brand), so is a genuine Porsche part (about 2X-3X the price) recommended?

Thanks,
Jay

I removed the rack to do mine. Not sure if there is an alternative but it's awful tight. I also switched from Allen key banjos to hex heads. It did occur to me after "I wonder whether I could have kept the hard line and replaced the hose with some new hydraulic hose in situ for a few pennies" but I don't know and didn't try it. Wonder if anyone else has. Good luck
