What's Up Gear Heads?
I haven't been around much after selling the track car but a new Red project may be coming to the house.

This is Jim's 86, that's me in the denim shirt and this was when we redid the 2.5 at Tom Charlesworth shop in Tulsa. The later engine is the 2.8L we built and some of you might remember it from the VR home page, as this engine used to be on one of John's pages. Well, the 2.8 goofed up and now back to 2.5 with VR kit for 2.5. It needs to be tuned so I think it will arrive next week but here is what I've been up to since selling the track car.
Back to skiing a whole lot more, always skied, but we hit it hard this year. 1993 MasterCraft Anniversary 190 Limited, #17 of 25 built. Safe T Top, back seat, sundeck, Perfect Pass speed control, push button ignition, Sony 100w x 4, 4 ea 5 way Kenwoods, 330 hp LT1 and 752 hrs. This one came up for sale, sold my 94 in three days, then flew to PA for test drive/ski, 4 days later U Ship rolled in with the boat, this was May.
The track car is being readied for 2017 Historic Racing, got an email from Keith the other day:

Well this will be a slow process but should be done with phase one mid next year. The car has been stripped down to get ready for a scca legal roll cage. I have taken out all the wiring and have a new custom loom being made. Soon I will be adding the new ECM, a Haltec Elite 1500. New fiberglass doors, wide body fenders, and lexan windows will be coming. I will be getting carbon fiber fenders, hood and nose early next year. As for the engine I have 4 individual coils, cam/crank sensors, a 16v head, and 3.0 ltr crank all waiting their turn. I haven't decided just how much to do to the engine right now, either leave it alone and use it as is for now and build a 3.2 ltr engine to swap in or upgrade this engine to a 3.0ltr and wait a bit to build the 3.2ltr.
Anyhow she is about to get the roll cage put in then on to painting the interior, wiring next, carbon fiber dash with a racepak dash replacing the instruments, fire suppression system, new driver seat, a foot box, and a new fuel safe custom fuel cell with twin Bosch 044 pumps. Lastly new lexan windows and fiberglass doors should finish up the cockpit area and phase one. Due to my deployment in November, I expect to be done with phase one by next summer.
Phase two will include wide body kit, aerodynamic upgrades to include a flat bottom, GT3 brakes, engine upgrades, and 18" wheels. This will hopefully be done in time for the 2017 race season in preparation for the historic 24 hours of Daytona. Some PCA races coupled with HSR or SVRA will get us ready. It looks to be a lot of fun getting the old girl a facelift over the next couple of years and maybe more.

Good to see you post again! Good luck with the project.
Huh, I always thought of snow skiing when I read your user name. Mental image corrected.

Very nice looking boat there!
Not to change subject, but your photo album appears to show a perfectly fitting covered pad to protect the paint while working under the hood. Is there one cut like this for the 944/951?

Hi Bret! Good to see you hanging around these parts. I did get your pm a while back and started typing up a response but apparently never sent it out (my bad). I'll try to get back on it but am fighting smog check issues with the c230 this weekend...

Well hopefully it will just be tweaking Red with a good tune. The car had a NEW dash ( Jim scored this off ebay years ago ), it's had new leather front seats, new WX stripping, Griffiths A/C complete, 968 sway bars, LSD with short shift kit, and complete Koni suspension. Of course, when you live 10 minutes from Paragon and Jason, easy to go "Hey I'm coming over, whatcha got?"
Then after I tune it, dyno it, it will be "just go ahead and buy it, I'll make you a deal" because he is still tearing up the road in the 930 with the Pat Williams superb built motor. I believe Scalded A$$ Ape is the term he refers to in performance
It now has a 968 CS steering wheel. There are a set of Fuchs hanging around at another guys shop in Corpus and I think those are being negotiated LOL
Anybody got an extra set of side molding lying around, want to trade for some newly plated heat shields or a Jet Hot coated 951 intake?
