Default OT - Desktop text size

Is anyone else seeing much larger text size on their desktop computers?

It's starting to bother me a lot

Yes. It is probably some weird scaling-for-high-DPI-monitors thing. Mine isn't a desktop but a Retina Macbook Pro running Windows 8.1. It doesn't really bother me that much.

Better to have the scaling a little mixed up here than ignore it completely, like some applications do. Remote Desktop in its cleverness treats the pixels of the host just like the high-resolution pixels of my laptop's display, and I literally have to use a magnifying glass to read the text (or apply a hack to the app).
