Default Accusump.

Is anyone using a preoiler like the accusump system? I seen they have an electric valve you can hook to the ignition for preoiling your engine on start up. Not a bad idea in these cars with the upside down oil filter. That might just be my next "upgrade".

If you use the right oil filter with the drainback valve then pre-oiling shouldn't be necessary.
But if you are really concerned I would rather just pull the coil wire and crank over a few times and then hook it up again

My 944 can sit for 2 weeks without running and it will start up with full oil pressure and no noise.

My Subaru will make a quick tapping noise for a second at startup if it sits overnight because its filter doesn't have the drainback valve.

I have an accusump in the race car and I run it on a switch. I wouldn't hook it up to the ignition as it's good to have control over when it's open. The pre-oiling is neat as you can see the oil pressure come up before you even crank the engine. I would caution you not to use the filter adapter. The o-ring is not the greatest design and tends to pop out spilling oil all over the headers. Plumb it right into the oil cooler lines.

Thank you very much. Do you have any photos on mounting location and pluming?

I don't have an image of how it is Tee'd into the oil cooler line, but it's just a regular AN style fitting.

So how does it work? There is an oil reservoir and pump in there and when you energize the pump or when the pressure becomes low the pump starts getting in extra oil pressure?

It just closes off pressurized oil when engine is running and you release that pressure when you start the engine. No pump inside as far as I know.

The "pump" is pressurized air on the other side of the piston inside the accusump. You can adjust the pressure with a schrader valve on the air side of the cylinder. I usually set it so that there is about 5-10 psi with the piston bottomed out. Once oil pressure builds, it fills the oil side until the pressure balance is reached at 5 bar (70ish psi). If oil pressure drops, then the air pressure starts forcing oil back into the system until the piston is empty or oil pressure comes back.

The switch lets you unleash the oil stored in the accusump before cranking the engine and also lets you capture more oil by closing the valve before shutting off the engine.
