Default Head Rebuilding options...

For those of you who didn't follow the "I blew my engine" thread, I am badly in need of a head rebuild. I have heard some things about using the head from a normally aspirated 944. What is the reasoning here? I happen to have a N/A head available, so I want to look into that option if possible. Can anyone suggest a good shop for a head rebuild? (money is an issue)

From what I've read, reasoning behind using an NA head is there's no ceramic liner cast into the exhaust port - hence, you can port the exhaust port.

I have to replace my exhaust valves, since they all hit thier respective piston. Are the N/A valves the same as the Turbo valves? I want to try to avoid paying 80 dollars per valve.

nope, the turbo has sodium filled valves which are more resistant to heat.
