Question Lindsey super 38 turbo

I recently purchased a lindsey super 38 turbo for my car
And was wondering if any one has any comparisons
To a k27/8 setup

super 48? never heard of a 38 before.

The Super38 turbo is an older smaller T04E 40-trim. Not listed on their website anymore because you can get K27/8 which is similar for a lot less. Super38 is good for about 400bhp, just slightly smaller than K27/8, which can do 420-440bhp. But slightly less lag and spool than K27/8.

Super48 is a T04E 50-trim which is good for 500bhp. Although a lot of the Honda guys have manage to get 550bhp out of that sucker! More lag and later spool than a K27/8 though.

Actually, it's never been on our web site. Yes, the super 38 is rated at 380 crank according to Garrett. It's not a 40 trim nor a TO4E.

The customer wanted a turbo that would not require a injector change. This turbo has a slightly larger compressor then K26/8 and a slightly larger turbine then the same and a better (larger) compressor housing. With a fuel pressure bump, and appropriate chips, he will have a few more ponies then the K26/8 and be a Garrett and brand new. The K27 would require a injector change. Had he been willing to do that, the Super 48 would of been a better choice then K27/8 because of the additional boost you could run before back pressure comes into play.

The K27/8 would be very similar and maybe no difference then a Super 48 in spooling, but the Super 48 with the larger and more efficient hot side would
enable you to run more boost thus make more HP then the K27/8.

What boost could be run on a 61/10 -5 trim with reasonable back pressure ?

I got this Mike... On a turbo engine "don't have exhaust psi exceed intake psi". Meaning between the exaust manifold and turbocharger, don't have psi build up more then the intake manifold pressure or you will have reversion(where the exhaust goes back into the cylinder from the exaust because it has more psi then the intake and "blows your head").... Good talk...put on an exaust back pressure gauge and don't exceed intake pressure! Mike told me this a few months back so I got myself a back pressure gauge and a Lindsey adaptor for the crossover pipe, ran a copper tube and no problem! Pretty awesome really. I won't loose another head gasket because I listened to Mike Lindsey on this one. It's called "reversion". Doesn't matter your turbo size! What matters is the ballance overall of the engine design, gasses and tunning.
