Put simply, when you shoot a timing light at the OT mark in the bellhousing, it will appear blurry if the cam sync is not happening at the "right time". When the sync signal is in the "correct" position, the OT marker will line up with the pointer without any distortion. The software in an aftermarket ecu will allow adjustment here to make this happen. The hurdle I came across was that the adjustment resolution in the software was too course between increments so I made my cam fixture adjustable. This gave me fine adjustment control to dial in the position where needed for the closely spaced 132 teeth.
