the swappable 0.68 5th gear is in '80-'82 Audi 5000 Diesels w/trans codes: UF, MN, BMO, WV, UW, MO, MR, AAW, AAV, AAY, AAX, AMM, & AMN.

Copy and paste from 944hybrids.

Gears are chosen and engineered based on the power band of the engine (among other things). A lower gear doesn't always result in better gas mileage or any real benefit, since you have to plant your foot a lot more (or downshift more) to accelerate, maintain speed up slight hills, etc.

Driving a lower gear at low RPM is a product of torque, and our engines aren't known to produce a ton of that below the boost range. It would probably be a blessing for the hybrids, since the LS motor has re-god-damn-diculous amounts of torque compared to ours.

That said all of this results in what appears to be a 4 to 500 rpm drop at any given point.

Well, that was an exercise in futility.

Excuse my language but, *&%$$&%^(*<?>?>%$!!%$#%^%$(( and "}::}<^T*&*&!!!!!!!!!!



I just got word back that the gears are NOT available and their website was in error.

My order is cancelled and they have NONE available.



I am so extremely pissed!!!!!!!:grr :






Sorry to get everyone's hopes up. Back to searching junk yards.
