Default Koni conversion

I know that I have to cut my old strut and drill hole in the bottom of the strut before I can install the insert. But when I read Dr. Koni article he says that I have to fill up antifreeze or oil in the struts housing before installing the insert. I don't know how he can do it. How can he fill up fluid in strut housing with the hole in the bottom????

It's not necessary to fill the strut ,but if you want to,you can simply fill it after you inserted the shock in the strut. The antifreeze is only added to keep things cool.

Actually, the anti freeze is added for that very reason, to keep it from freezing.

You'll essentially be plugging that hole at the bottom with a large bolt. I added some antifreeze in mine but not a whole lot.

I have always used auto trans fluid. The theoretical reason for using any fluid in the housing is to improve/even out heat transfer between the shock assembly and the housing. Otherwise, heat transfer from the friction of the shaft's internal motion would have to travel through very little total surface area to get out, which would be potentially insufficient in aggressive driving scenarios. Any tricks how to pour fluid into strut housing when you bolt in the bottom and it seal on the top. Can I drill a hole on a side of struts?
