So I was an idiot and removed the alarm ECU from my '89 a few years ago. Didn't realize how many circuits go through the alarm ECU. Of course I can't find the alarm ECU in my boxes of 951 stuff in my garage.
So Lart was very kind and I got one from him. I checked with Sunset and the part # is the right one, but it won't plug into my harness. The alarm ECU specifies it needs to plug into a blue harness plug, but mine are white.
Are there two versions of this alarm ECU for the '89's? One for a blue plug and another for a white plug?
The late model alarm bypass on Clarks Garage doesn't work for my car. The jumper wire 1 --> 4 burns up, as other people have noted in the past. I just repaired that wire in the harness, others have said it needs to be jumper 1 --> 3, but I'm a bit gun shy of burning up another wire...
Here are my plugs...

Gah! So it looks like I need the alarm ECU starting with 911, NOT 928. Damn Porsche and their rolling part # changes. Even the dealer says I need the 928 alarm ECU.
Sigh. Let the saga continue...

OK, turns out the alarm in my car is from a '87. Just goes to confirm that Porsche used whatever they had laying around. The alarm ECU and relay DO need to match, so not only did I get the wrong ECU, but I got the wrong relay too.
The ecu and relay I need are (Alarm) 911.637.104.02 and (Relay) 944.615.113.02
Hopefully will exchange with Lart and then it'll all work...

Did you try jumping 7 --> 8 and 1 --> 3?
I've read that works on the late cars, but I haven't tried it and no one has confirmed it works...
