Turbo Thermostat
My first water pump, timing belt, balance shaft belt job.
I had much more confidence doing the head gasket and clutch replacement.
Should I reinstall the or go without the thermostat for the turbo?

The belt job is far easier than a HG job. Just line up the marks, and follow Van Svenson's water pump and timing belt video, on youtube. It's not any harder than any other belt job, and far easier than many. Don't be too impressed by all the hype. As far as the thermostat, I'n never seen it mentioned as part of the job. If you have the cash and just want to, then go ahead, but it isn't necessary.
The video has three parts.

The thermostat is a required piece of equipment unless you are ready to do some modifications to bypass the cold start loop. The thermostat is held in the water pump with a cir-clip that is a pain to get out but since you are in there make sure to replace it.

What temperature is the turbo thermostat supposed to open? I just tested mine and I think it was starting to open around 170*F
Think I might have found it; 82 C ~ 180 F
Confirmed?
Also just in case anyone cares about the orientation the FSM and PET seem to show the spring/pellet on the turbo thermostat going into the plastic housing. However it seems it actually goes into the water pump instead.
