Default k26/6 to k26/8 upgrade, what all is needed?

Other than the turbo, what chips would you need? injectors, FPR, ect

Yes I did search, couldn't find anything. Just curious if anyone has a full list of stuff needed to do the k26/8 upgrade on an '86 turbo and everything that is necessary!

Thanks

I don't have an upgrade list, but i really like my combination of A-tune, 3bar FPR, and full Fabspeed 3" system (installed last week). I am running stock CV and think I've got the car where I want it. My 89 has k26/8 by default.

I'm pretty sure the K26/8 cars have exactly the same injectors and FPR as the K26/6. There are 2 different parts listed for the FPR for early vs late turbos but I think that is just because of the fitting for the return line. They are still 2.5 bar.

Injectors are listed the same for all turbo models everywhere that I can see (PET, Clark's Garage, Paragon etc.)

The chips are different, both DME and KLR.

Of course all that assumes stock boost control. If you're changing that, you might need to change all these parts, but that is true even with the K26/6.

Nothing is needed, the hotside is larger freeing up some back pressure.

Jack, I have a k26/8 on the shelf ready to go in my 86, so I'm going down the same path. My understanding is that nothing else is needed. But of course I have been wrong before, so happy to be corrected.

I will acknowledge that the later model cars have the 28 pin chip and the 86's have the 26, but I don't associate that with the upgraded turbo. That change happened before the bigger turbo went in. There are non S 87+ cars with 28 pin chip, right?

At any rate, a new DME and M tune will cure all of that....

I did the 26/6 to 26/8 swap, only thing you'll need is a chipset, it will still run fine but I noticed the 26/6 fuel map tends to lean out slightly mid powerband, but I also have the boost up around 17psi. You'll like the 26/8 pull to redline, but to be honest for the work that's involved, if I had to do it again, I'd go bigger, eather a 27/6, 27/8 or a LR turbo.

Fast, that's good advice. But I am concerned about the car's capabilities exceeding mine by too far a margin.

By the time I think the k26/8 is underpowered, I might be able to afford to have someone else do the work for me.
