Powder Coating Help - Calipers
I had a set of calipers powder coated last year and I am trying to match the set with a second set. The original powder coater went out of business, so I'm looking for another who can duplicate his work. I have the color code and I am looking for someone to follow this process: 1) glass bead the caliper, 2) powder coat yellow, 3) add PORSCHE stencil in black (bake again), 4) powder coat a clear top coat.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gene

In the pic you posted, it looks as if the piston bores were bead blasted as well. If so, that can easily send a caliper to the scrap heap.

If anyone has good sources for caliper restoration, please share the info. Out of curiosity I started looking into this for my 951 calipers and was amazed at how involved the process actually is to do them right.

That can't be normal. I rebuilt all four calipers on my 928, bead blasted and painted (engine paint + clear coat) for about $75. Took me a day. I put in SS brake lines and slotted rotors for another $300. You can get OEM seal kits from Pelican, they aren't expensive. You'll spend most of your time masking unless to buy a set of bolts that fit all the holes in the caliper and use a wax paper dixie cup to fill the piston bore before you blast & paint. It really is easy. You'll need a compressor to get the pistons out. You can either shop out the blasting work or buy a blast box from HF for $200. For a thousand bucks you can buy all the parts and every tool you'll need (including a compressor) and still save money.
If someone's charging you $1000 to rebuild your calipers I assure you you're paying for their kid's braces

Seal off your brake lines when you disconnect them from your calipers, you don't want air migrating to your master cylinder.

I don't know if Goldline replaces the pistons or not...I'm guessing not since that would be close to $1k in just parts for early calipers.
If you have the early style (scraper seals) for 4 piston brembos, the rebuild kits are $$ (piston/seal/dust ring). Remember, you need 4 rebuild kits per caliper.
