Default Idle Issues

My 944T arrived in Seattle a few days ago. For the most part it is running well. Immediately before being shipped, I replaced the throttle position sensor.

After driving the car for a few days, I developed a new problem. The idle has increased to 1200 rpms. When I put the car in neutral while coasting or at a stop light, the idle holds at 2000 rpms. If I tap the gas peddle, the idle returns to 1200 rpms. The air/fuel mixture is reading 14.7 at idle my wide band sensor.

I replaced the ICV in 2007. The car has under 3,000 miles on it since 2007.

I considered replacing the ICV again to see what happens. However, the cost is close to $350 for a replacement unit. I would like to avoid this expense for something that would be trial and error.

Any idea on what I should try before replacing the ICV?

I followed the procedure at Clark's garage. The idle problem occurred twice before with the old TPS, but it was a rare occurrence. The problem is now 100 percent of the time.

Have you checked the connector. Mine had a dodgy connection in the wires where it went into the plug. LR has a replacement with leads attached or you can buy one here cheaper but you will need a crimper($$) unless you can borrow one.

I put my thumb on the connector while the car was running and the idle increased another 1,000 rpms. It looks like the wiring is the issue. I ordered the replacement kit from Lindsey Racing. I hope this solves the problem. Thanks for the input. Bill

Check the throttle cable. Make sure it's not pulling.
