Out of ideas

If it is easily fixed I can do that later and then sell it, but I don't have the facilities to do all that now, and don't have the time to get to the shop, to get them to fix it(am guessing they will be closed till after new year anyway). It is not ideal but it is what it is and to be honest I just want the car sorted and to feel some boost again

Sounds to me (bucking/engine dies) like you have blown off a boost pipe connection, probably at/under the rear lip of the nose panel where it's hard to see, especially if the SFR pipes are the early versions without a rolled bead on the ends.

These cars certainly start to behave bizarrely once they age!
Sounds like you ID'd a few problems.... bad WG, which you're fixing, and a faulty injector harness.
If the injector harness is acting up, I'd go through and inspect everything in the harness that you can. The injector wires likely aren't the only problematic ones.

I didn't have mechanic put loctight on current set up and a bolt backed out. When I replace WG I think I will go this way, just to be sure.

Loctite doesn't make a product that will hold up to the exhaust temps you will see at the waste gate.
Their highest temp product is rated at 600f but it's for 1/2-3/4" thread size fasteners.
The product recommended for a 6-8mm thread will survive 3-400f at best.
You are better off with lock washers on blind holes (no nut) and lock nuts on through holes.

Well LR Injector harness is now fitted. I didn't fit the knock sensor part of the harness, as I will need to take intake off to fit other end at knock sensor, so that's a project for down the track.
Obviously fitting safety wire is the best option but I imagine you would need a drill press to put the holes in allan head bolts. Is that how it is done ? What type of wire would you use ?
I don't have access to that so think I might just go for lock washers as second best option.

you'll need a drill press with a vice. and high speed drill bits. You use stainless steel wire.
just use spring washers. I use them with out problems. you want thick ones though.

well on way home from work tonight, the car started playing up again. Its over 40 deg C here. When I pulled over she would start and then instantly die. I stopped for a while and let car cool down for about 15 minutes or so and then got her started, although running poorly, I managed to get me home(just). On the last Km she was back firing (but only gently) and tacho was doing wild bounces from about 2500 to zero and back.
