I don't know why the guy would say it has chips in it. Not a wise move IMO.

well, the fact that he says it has chips means he doesn't do his own work.

Why is stating the car has chips "not a wise move"? And why does that mean that I don't do my own work?

Oh, so it belongs to the guy who's never posted here before. Welcome to the board!

Most people who are looking for a stock low milage car would prefer one that hasn't been chipped. I know I would, and I've seen sellers that say "never been chipped." It's an indication of the way it's been driven and that the engine hasn't been pushed as much.

The chips are not that expensive, so they really aren't much of a selling feature.

The engine doesn't look all that good for <39k miles.

M3, do you have some more details that you could elaborate on? mechanical condition, the way it runs (especially being just barely under the break-in period), etc

New clutch sometime before 38,xxx miles doesn't make sense. And, the engine doesn't look like a 39k engine.

I would bet $$$ it's not a 39k mile car.

Would a garage queen with 39k have such dirty and discolored fluid reseriors? Look and the coolant and windshield wash fluid reserviors....
That's how mine looked at 130k before I replaced them.
