Did your Zeitronix LCD display go out?

I purchased a used Zeitronix system a while ago and just recently installed it. In the process I found the LCD display was non-op (I could see characters bouncing around if I looked at just the right angle under light, so knew just the backlight was belly up). I called Zeitronix and was told no repairs, I was on my own for replacement parts, and not to open the unit as I would surely fry it...
Two screws on the cable side will allow you to slide the electronics out of the case. The display is conveniently plugged (not soldered) onto a main pc board. The display is a very common 20x2 LCD unit (C-51505NFQJ-LW-ALN). The Digi-Key part # is 73-1291-ND. You will need to install sockets on the display. I found the correct low-profile single-row sockets right away (ED4820-ND) and got impatient looking for the double-row equivalent so just ordered the single row and made sure I had the sockets aligned correctly when I installed (tack them down lightly on just a few pins while lightly seated on the main pc board to align, then remove and finish soldering). Total cost was just over $30.
Just posting for posterity - hopefully someone will find it useful in the future...![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Edit: PS - there are also a limited number of different color choices if you look up the different variants of the C-51505. This unit is white characters on black background. They also have the standard black char's on white, and I think they have red and blue character options too.
