Default Knock sensing details

I got this great 944 turbo technical supplement with a car I picked up... It has a great description of how the KLR system works. How it pulls timing when knock is detected, then starts to feed it back slowly when the knock goes away.

Also, how it will incrementally lower boost if pulling timing doesn't solve the problem.

Very cool Van, thanks. I thought I had all of the supplements but don't remember that one. What's the page number? A picture of the cover would be great too. If it's the mini booklet I have that somewhere.

I have a ton of those books at home if any of you guys are interested in them going from '83 through '90 i think. I was going to post them up for sale at some point but have been too lazy. Lots of interesting stuff in them about small details often overlooked or forgotten.

I also have the test plan books for the DME, KLR and ABS modules.

Interesting booklet - never knew the space saver was only intended to be used on the front axle.

Great info Shawn, thanks. I thought it was funny that they called it a "supercharged" engine.

I just purchased the Turbo supplement to the service manual and tried to buy DME KLR test plan booklet. I was told that it is no longer available. I would be willing to purchase as much information that you have. The DME KLR and ABS test plans would be most helpful. Let me know Gil

Something to do with the translation though I have seen supercharging described as mechanical or exhaust driven.

According to wikipedia, "turbocharger" is really a shortened version of "turbosupercharger", which was the original word. In other words, a turbo is just a particular kind of supercharger.
