Default Slightly OT, fabricated 944 content in VW bus

Came across this thread on another forum while looking for pictures.
The guy has a VW bus/truck thing and installed a 944 rear suspension in it for the brake upgrade and went a cool step further by adding bellcranks and pushrods to the 944 trailing arms.

Has anyone tried doing a setup like that on a 944 chassis? For that last pound or two of unsprung weight savings?

He's also installing a late 911 engine in the middle, using a shortened 944 torque tube and transaxle...pretty cool build!

That is awesome!

But wouldn't it make more sense to push the weight into the middle of the car?
