Default Suspension setups

So it's now time for me to upgrade my suspension.

My front shocks are finished and well i'm just going to get a whole new front & rear setup.

At the moment i have koni shocks front and rear with stock t-bar (no idea what size it is) in the rear and 300lb coils in the front with height adjustments.
Stock sway bars, nothing fancy.

Car use: Mostly my weekender, but i drive it to work which is 5 min from home.
in warmer seasons i'll go to the hills with the club at least once a month, track days here and there.
I will be running R spec tyres or tyres like dunlop direzza dzII or Nitto NTO1
Every day tyres are just summer tyres (toyo t1r)
Budget: $3000 or under.
options i'd like:
height adjustable, compression and rebound adjustments.
And i'd like to be able to drive it with out it feeling like my a$$ is getting dragged on a gravel road.

Right now, i'm looking at KW v3. in my budget,
What other options do i have?

Cheers.

Hey Paully,

I put in 968 M030 front and rear Sways and Bilstein Escort cups.

Car handled amazing on smooth twisty roads but I felt every little line, ripple and bump!

Just switched to the Kw V3's with the stock spring set up and LOVE it!

This set up is much more street able yet can be turned up when at the track.

MCS, good but out of budget for what i'm after.

I looked at what Bilstein offer. The escort cups are kind of oldschool. nothing in their new range.
I looked at eibach, They don't offer anything either.
intrax, i've heard some bad stuff & experience about theirs by a few people

Most likely will get the V3's. But was looking at what else is on the market.

I recently picked up a set of SPAX RSX118 coilover kit. It is meant to be used with the torsion bars. Fully adjustable front and rear and they set me up with the spring rate I wanted. The kit was $1400 US shipped to my door from the UK. I have yet to install them, so far I am very impressed with the build quality and am looking forward to getting them in. The adjustable spring perches are machined aluminum and overall construction appears to be very good considering cost. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Hey vic,

I saw those.

They're fairly cheap. I was a bit concerned about those with quality. But again, not something i was looking for, for overall adjustibility.

But post them up, more info in 1 thread is better

I would go with escort cups. You cant go wrong. and they are cheap to rebuild from factory.

They don't offer adjustability i'm after though.

Id like to drive in some sort of comfort and able to crank it up when i throw my other wheels and tyres on for track and hills.

Glad they worked out for you. Hopefully I can get up there next year!

You really don't want to change the valving much without a spring rate change. You can certainly tweak it to take out some oversteer or understeer or to help with brake bias in some places, but the dampers alone won't give you that kind if flexibility.

I had KW's on my prior 968, it was a great all around setup for a street and track car. I never changed them for the track.

+1 on the KW's as a great street/track setup. Mine might still be for sale Paully. I'm O.S. at the moment but am planning on putting a lot of nice parts up for sale over the next month or so. I have a few others interested in the KWs but once I get my hsit together I will see who wants what. We have progressed in this as we've taken some pics and will put the list up for sale soon. Even if you don't wind up with my KW's I still haven't been in a car with a better street/track suspension system.

BTW, I have 3 extra sets of springs for the KW's if anyone needs them.

I am away on vacation until Monday night so I would have to check rates when I return.

I'm curious about the ID, length, and rates. Interested in finding out more when you return from vacation.
