What part of the block is flexing under high loads? The top end I assume since the bottom end is pretty sturdy.
Deckplate seems to be a good answer..maybe sleeving a 104mm block down to 100mm or 4.00" would stiffen things sufficiently. 6 or 7:1 CR and turn it up...
Keeping the head on would probably be the most challenging part - no material on the block to add extra studs/bolt holes unless you were able to weld something on or maybe some sort of bolt-on fixture to the sides of the block with vertical bosses?

Talked with a gentleman from the States yesterday at Mosport with a highly modified 2.5 turbo. He told me in the back of the block or head there is a water jacket that is not drilled all the way through.It just ends.He says that the water in that area creates a tremendous amount of steam from all the heat and has nowhere to go.That's where all his head gasket failures were.He drilled it out to the outside of the head and ran the water through a line back to his rad reservoir and has never had a gasket failure ever since. His car was highly modified and the only car that beat him all day was a modified GT3. It was wicked.

Some people go nuts and put 3 or 4 big tubes right on the head.
Did Corelone(sp) ever have head gasket issues?

I thought he was building dyno-queen motors just to see how hard these things could be pushed - call it NDT if you like.
Was the veracity of his figures called into question?

Part of his HG problems was in phuzion head gasket. If I remember correctly the ring fell in to cylinder at least once.
Probably this kind of problems killed off phuzion type headgaskets, as Cometic discontinued production.

With tools engine compares to the engines i'm talking about.
Tools ran a 1/4mile in 15 seconds or someting near. where the engines i speak of aren't dyno queens but are drag built engines made to run sub 10 seconds.
But i cannot remember what tool did to the engine.
