BTW I don't know if I mentioned this ( I believe I must have in the earlier thread ) The only way I was able to determine that the issue may be with the boxes ( the KLR or DME ) was, I had them out on the floor of the passenger side foot well, and preceded to move them a little when the car was idling. I noticed that there was a change in idle sound, and fuel ratio ( on my ZT2)
At first I was really looking for a loose wire, after all the wiring I did for the SMT6 and all the other stuff I added. But I was convinced that I didn't have loose wires, because I was so freakin' methodical as to how I spliced them ( all soldered and then liquid taped and them heat shrink wrapped and then wrapped with that friction tape like the factory.)
Just for the heck of it I would consider pulling out your boxes, and see if moving them a little while the car is idling does anything ???

Yes I think this is where I'm heading. I don't know if it has any bearing but the battery is 7+ years old, I haven't replaced it because despite limited use the car always starts from cold.

I've driven the car a few times since the issue and while it hasn't cut out I've noticed a couple of times after stopping and restarting the AFR has gone rich for a couple of minutes and the car stumbled before running normally. Not sure if that's over fueling or weak sparks ?

Mine had an unstable AFR as well, it would bounce back and forth.
It turned out to be the KLR weak solder joints on the board ....
