Default 3.0L crank exact stoke length 88mm?

I am curious about the exact measurement of the stock 3.0L crank. I am quite sure it is 88.0 mm as stated in the FSM, but there are several threads stating 87.8mm.

All the factory materials I've seen say 88. I flagged that other number too when I saw it -- see below.

https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...-question.html

The source of the other number appears to be Clarks-Garage specifications listing, but without any support. I tried to ask Clark where he got it, but he didn't respond. As best I can tell, it's a rare mistake...

Tom:

I tried to post pictures of the FSM, but at least from the App, I can no longer post pictures. I get a Parse Error every time.

I also saw the 87.8mm number on Clarke's as well as here and Pelican.

I need to call Shawn and see what the issue is.

Hmmm... if there's a picture of a couple TB cams below, it's working for me...

The engine capacity is specified as 2990cc. If you take the 104.0mm bore, the calculated stroke to get this capacity is 87.994mm. Pretty close to 88mm.

I have found more and more information stating the 87.8mm figure. I am leaning toward this being the exact dimension. I can still not upload pictures without getting a Parse Error. I have deleted the app and downloaded it again and no help. This is frustrating.

I think there have been multiple issues with Rennlist postings etc,
I couldn't post pictures with my laptop for a few weeks
Then the hyper links were not working for about two weeks
All, have since been corrected.

AFAIK this is the correct dimension, often quoted simply as 88mm.

The S2 Tech Spec book and the 968 factory service manual both list 88mm, 104mm bore and 2990cc's for the motor. For the 2.5 crank they list it as 78.9mm, 100 bore and 2479cc's. The factory does not appear to be rounding anything, and the 2990cc displacement would be off by 7cc if they did.
