Default Suggestions for 944 specialist shop on the NW side of LA?

Car still running hot. Replaced thermostat and no change. Runs at 210. Fans kick on and off and it doesn't make much of a difference.

Figuring it's a water pump. If that's not it, it's a HG. Pray it's a WP because otherwise I'm leaving the car at Lart's. Don't have time, patience, or interest in fixing this thing anymore. Hoping somebody can get me done in a day out in LA. I'll be in Westlake Village all week.

My shop is in Santa Barbara, about an hour north of Westlake Village. I know it's far, but shoot me a PM and maybe I could help.

Hey Jim, What kind of suspension is on that car?

Kidding! What are the symptoms other than running hot? Are you getting heat out of the heater? Losing coolant?

Getting heat out of the heater. Does not appear to be losing coolant.

I put the car on stands and run it until its hot, with the heater valve fully open so it's all circulating and then crack the bleeder screw and let it gush out. Wear gloves!

Helps to disconnect the fans first so it heats up faster.

You can borrow a pressure tester at Autozone.

Jim,

I feel your pain. I had the same issue as you. It would go above the second mark.

My fix was the fan resistor wiring all crumbled. I made two new cables and it solved the problem.

Turn the A/C on and see if it goes to 210. If it doesn't that means that it's not a water pump problem, and maybe a resistor wiring issue.

Good luck. I still have to change a headgasket, but my heart is telling me to sell it.

Thanks for all the replies. Just got to LA, gonna catch some sleep then will pull car off the trailer tomorrow.

Pretty sure it's not a fan issue. Right after installing the tstat before leaving Chicago I took it for a road test. 10:30p, upper 50s outside, 50mph cruise, temp stuck at top white mark and 210 on the autometer gauge. It should have cooled off just rolling down the road with air over the radiator.

Thanks for the offer to help. As I'll be living out of a hotel while in WLV I don't really have the means to work on anything. That said I will futz with it a bit tomorrow and if I can't get anywhere I'll drag it up to Schneider Auto Haus and let them tinker with it. Talked to one of their guys when I was on the road and he gave me a few other things to check.

If I need a 2nd set of eyes I'll shoot you a PM since you're so close.
