Default IF Tial DP had hoses wrong way, what would happen ?

This is a long shot but has anyone ever fitted a DP waste gate with hoses wrong way around and if so what happened/symptoms ?

I bought my eboost controller used and I tested solenoid before fitting and worked fine(heard it click when voltage applied)but have all settings turned right down and still get over boost(18psi or more) on WOT but lower(ie normal/desired 12-14PSI) boost on part throttle. I am wondering if my DP Tial hoses are round wrong way or if I need a new eboost solenoid. It would be easy to swap hoses at solenoid but don't want to try that in case it causes harm
TIA

I've done it before, but i forgot what happened.

Make sure the solenoid is on the right way too.

Had the same issue when installing my hks evc-s. Found out the previous owner of the boost controller had plugged a part on the solenoid when it should be left open to atmosphere. What ebc do you have? Make sure the settings is set to poppet type instead of swing valve.

It's a turbosmart e-boost 1. It has no setting for poppet/swing valve that I have been able to see in the manual or on control unit. I wired up the control unit but my mechanic fitted Tial for me. A junior mechanic, who no longer works there, hooked up the hoses. As I am unable to reign in the boost spike, I am thinking that either solenoid is faulty or he got top and bottom hoses around wrong way. The control unit seems to be working, as can access all settings etc and it seem to measure boost correctly, sounds overboost alarms etc.

I was hoping someone can tell if it is a symptom of hoses wrong way around or that it is safe to try them other way
cheers

If you have them hooked up backwards it will over boost.

Did it when I put the fresh motor in my car a few weeks ago. Just flip the hoses around at the WG.

Thanks Jim. I will flip them at solenoid though as much easier to get too

Ok just keep in mind that one of the lines at the solenoid should have a "tee" in it that goes back to the banjo bolt so just pay attention that you've got it all plumbed correctly.

In my case, my exact issue was that I first ran the lines straight to my MBC, then piped in the "tee" to the banjo - and I put the "tee" on the wrong line. Flipping the lines at the MBC end wouldn't have worked. So if you have it backwards at the WG itself, then flipping them at the solenoid won't fix it - you'll still have the "tee" on the wrong WG port.

use my diagram i drew up as a guide. just substitute the boost T with a solenoid. you should be able to see the wastegate lines by looking down past your engine. you usually are able to see the top

Cool thanks guys, will fix it tomorrow on my RDO. Might have to run new vacuum hose as think there may not be enough slack in current set up

OK well after checking hoses, found they are hooked up correctly and after talking to Turbosmart I need to do a test and run boost directly into bottom port and see what happens, bypassing Eboost. They said very unlikely its solenoid, so maybe control unit or wastegate

what are the settings and menus on your unit? Most EBC are similar with peak hold, overboost, drop, offset, etc..

Bypassed Eboost today and on way home from work and saw 12 and 14lbs of boost, and I have a Tial big yellow spring (10.2 psi). Is this what you would expect ?
I didn't get a chance to go WOT so not sure if it is still overboosting(18-20lbs) but looks like issue maybe with Tial not eboost. I should get a chance to see what happens on WOT tomorrow

well she is still overboosting, hitting 18lbs in second on WOT with eboost bypassed running single port mode. I didnt think a 10lb spring would let boost get so high. I am thinking only option is to fit a lower pressure spring but pretty sure that means Tial has to come out. Has anyone replaced a spring with wastegate in place ?

That doesnt make sense...even with no boost signal running to the wg at all, the pressure should still force a 10 psi spring open well before you get 18#. Definitely sounds like a wastegate issue.

Bruce, Make sure your bolt hasn't came undone from the wastegate flange causing the gasket block the wastegate exit. I had that happen to me. and experienced some funny things.
