Default Any tools for alternator dimensions? Need low amp one

Thread about the Quest alternator has me wondering how folks find out what fits. Does anyone have any tools that give dimensions on the alternators that are out there? Specifically, from some reference of the pulley to the locating face on the frame, and the spacing between the mounting holes on the frame? The race car (well, one of them anyway, since I just bought another on Monday) has no need for high amperage. No lights, no fans, no frills - just the DME/KLR and fuel pump (even brake lights are low current LED's). So I figure anything over 40 amps should be sufficient. Most of the "race" alternators are configured for V belts.
