Default Best BOV for 15+ psi?

What BOV should I use for over 15psi? Will the Saab/993 one work. If i'm running 15psi, will I just tear up the stock one?

Sounds like you planning something. Have you looked at the 996 billet for around 140 I think.

If you want to vent to atmosphere go for the apex twin chamber. Sounds sweet too.

I run 20+psi, and I use the stock BOV (993 part#).
If you use a MAF or AFM DO NOT vent to atmosphere. The air you will be venting was measured by the AFM or MAF sensor and accounted for by the DME...

Also will have idle problems because the unmetered air is drawn inward in nonboost stiuations.

Thumbs up

The Forge BOV works great with my MAF. It's a rebuildable aluminum piece that is available in black or silver. It's only slightly larger than stock so it's in the same space. It's a little expensive at $140 but worth it.

Look here: Forge BOV

stratmosphere hyberboost (get the adjustable and crank it down a bit for 18+ psi apps).

www.stratmosphere.com -- specifically:

Hyperboost

i'm a big fan of mine, all metal, so it's not going to tear/leak like the saab / bosch / 993 one.

Bailey Motorsports also makes one.. works great on my car. It is rebuildable and has different springs availible, unlike the Forge.

EDIT: The Forge above is rebuildable.. however, the older 006 is not. Good to see Forge now makes them with a bolt flange so you can repair it.

Sorry but I had to chime in here..

You guys keep referring to the BPV (Bypass valve) as a BOV (Blowoff Valve).

Porsches/Audi's/VW's and most other turbo applications do not run blow off valves (which sends extra boost to the atmosphere), we run Bypass valves (or sometimes referred to as Diverter valves, these valves redirect boosted air back into the intake system).

Glad I got that off my chest - heh

yes, we know. it's just common usage - like kleenex vs toilet-tissue (obviously a n00b might get a touch confused and think he/she can vent to atmosphere but that topic/issue/problem is already touched upon in this post).

btw you don't have to vent to atmosphere to get a good sound (not that i built / did ANYTHING on my car for sound - but it's nifty). if you have a MAF / cone filter vs the factory AFM you _will_ hear any DV, mine sounds pretty badass imo - a sort of *SQUWEEEEEPHSSSSTTTTTtt.t.t.tt.t* (occasionally flutters, gotta tweak the tightness a bit to work on that)

Fast 951, you are running that high? I want to run 18 PSI or at least have the ability, how safe is this on mostly stock parts? I am willing to spend money to be able to do this but most on the board appear to be running 15-16 psi.

18psi on a stock turbo or a stock engine is murder. i'd keep it under 16 imo.
