Ok, I think my 1986 951 has S2 struts on the front. The struts have caps on the upper mount that say F271. I can't find any part # sticker on the strut. Does that sound right?
The struts were blown, so I bought Koni inserts and am just about done the hacksaw insert mod... Until I went to put the springs on. I had bought #250lb lowering springs, but the springs on these struts are smaller in diameter so I can't use my new springs. That's when I realized something's not right here.![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
What would you do? I'm about 400 in the hole on the struts and springs now.. At a minimum I want to get lowering springs but it looks like there are few/pricey options for S2 struts.
Thanks!

87 turbos had the same caps, you need to look for a part # on the lower strut housing

Here are some pics of the ride height, the ~4 diameter inch springs & perches on the car vs. ~5 inch springs from weltmeister/paragon. And yeah.. I know I should get some bump stops and a dust boot. I'll resolve this shortly, preferably when I solve this spring issue.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Yes, the new weltmeister lowering springs I ordered from paragon are about 0.5-0.75 inches bigger than the springs/perches on these struts. I don't know what struts they are exactly because I don't see any stamping and the part number stickers are missing. I'm tired of having a backwards hot rod, with high front ride height as seen in the pics and my signature.

Talked to Jason @ Paragon, seems like they are the S2/968 struts for sure. I decided just to return my springs and order the coilover conversion kit.
