Default Leaking turbo drain crush ring at pan?

Hi,
My car has a 944-turbo type oil pan on it fitted from the factory and has a large plug in the oil pan where the turbo drain would normally go.

I am noticing some oil on the bottom of my pan and it almost looks like it's coming out from the plug. I have never removed the plug from the pan so I don't know why the crush ring would be failing if it's only been tightened down once (by the factory). Is this something that can just happen with age?
