The 993 TT is a great car. As with anything though we see some issues that creep up. Here is a short list:

Turbos seem to go out at 70K-80K miles (good opportunity to upgrade to HR GT2 modified turbos )

If you rev them to and past redline they like to lunch rods!! They have a horrible rod in them so drive them hard but don't rev them hard!

Wires are gone after 50K miles

Most under hood hoses need changing after 50K miles

Stock intercooler hoses are junk and will deteriorate after as little as 40K miles and constantly blow off with higher than stock boost (we just came out with S/S intercooler hard pipes to solve this one!)

All 4 O2 sensors need changing at 60K miles

Stock dash boost indicator sensor is junk and will fail before 100K miles

Stock alignment settings are bad and all need a different set-up to handle better and save rear tires on the street.

There is more but that is the common stuff. Like your 951 the 993TT can be modified to make much more reliable HP than stock. We add 100 wheel HP with simple bolt-ons and 200 RWHP with those plus turbos and exhaust and such! So you will not be getting bored any time soon! I say go for it!!

I wouldnt get rid of the 951. It is a special car and once it is gone you will regret it. The 993TT is a great car and in my opinion the last real Porsche but you better be willing to spend a lot of money for when things go wrong. Think twice about buying a modified 911 as the engine life will be significantly reduced. The guy who owned it had his fun and you may pay for it.

Where in Columbus are you located? I didn't know a car with those list of mods was so close. It would be awesome to get a ride to be able to compare cars. The 993 TT would be a dream, I couldn't imagine that kind of power.

Jesus after reading Derrek's post looks like a 951 is a very cheap car to run. I think you will be having headaches unless you are really rich!

70K new turbo - wow - mine has 150K on the clock - still on the first one.

Looks like hell of a lot goes wrong at 50-70K.

This is my favorite - rev it to the red line and it will launch rods - Jesus I will pass thanks...

Ok, I saw your car up there during one of the dyno days they were having there. I'm friends with Mason who works there now. Lets meet up sometime so I can take a ride in your car. If you are thinking of selling it, I may be interested. I would like to compare your mods to mine to see and feel the power differance in the cars.

993TT is .7bar stock, as is 996...at least that's what the obc said. I can't remember stock on the 930, but I think it was similar - .7 or .8 bar?

THe 993 will probably feel primitive next to your 951. I've driven and owned just about every P-car (currently have a 79 SC, 02 Boxster S, and 88 TS) and I can safely say that the 951 is about as good as it gets.
