Atlanta GA Porsche 944 Meet & Mountain Run! March 8th!

Cross-posted on the regular 944-forum: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...march-8th.html

-----------------

Last year we held our first Atlanta 944 Meet & Greet, followed by our 'Tail of the Dragon' mountain run the following day..... And it was a SMASHING SUCCESS! So.... Time to do it again!!!

Facebook event page:
Facebook Post

The basic plan: Have a HUGE 944 meet & greet on Saturday evening, March 8th. Then on Sunday morning a nice spirited drive through North Georgia's most crooked roads. The mountain run is optional, but the meet & greet is a requirement. ;)

March 8th: Meet & Greet will be held at 6PM!
Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint
4745 Ashford Dunwoody Rd, Atlanta, GA 30338
(In the Walmart plaza)
Bring your 924/944/968/928 or Grandma's station wagon if you desire.

March 9th: Spirited mountain run drive. The route will take us through Georgia's most scenic and twisty roads. This route is known as the "Georgia Dragon" and is equally as curvy as the famous Tail of the Dragon, except not as famous. :p
Meeting point and time is TBD. I will update you guys with more info on when and where to meet. Our usual location is in the town of Dahlonega, GA.

For photos of last year's event, please see this link!

See you there!

2h drive from my place in AL...

Hrm, this is tempting. I'll probably make it up there for the meet and greet.

 We would love for you to join us! Which car would you be bringing?

And hell, 2 hours ain't too much! I live nearly 1.5 hours from Dunwoody, but there will be a whole slew of 944's from Central FL heading up.... about a 7-8 hour trip. :D

I'd be bringing the Turbo. The NA is back home at my parents with my dad seriously considering turning it into a track day car.

Ah hell why not, need to RSVP or anything?

Damn - wish the Houston 924/944/968/928 crowd would organize something like that.

Start a thread and see where it goes!

The first 944 meet we hosted in Orlando (where I got started with 944 meets) turned out to be only 6 cars - and one very fun evening.

Once the word spread around and a few months later, there was close to 20 944's. And each year it builds on from there. Last year in Orlando we had about 50. :)

Atlanta seems to have a strong 944 community. Last year was our first meet, and I counted 34 different 924/944/968's. Not bad! I hope we can have as strong of a turnout this year, or better! :)

2 isn't nothing! I just drove the Elliott's about 7 1/2 hours there and back plus another 200 miles around his town. And I'm doing it again and there isn't a better car to be doing it in!!

Update for Sunday 3/9: The meeting point for our mountain cruise will be at the Walmart in Dahlonega. The Caffeine & Octane idea would have been great, however it falls on the weekend prior. :/
In reality, Dahlonega is really the best place to pre-meet anyway. So it will work out great as always!

Bump!

Let's have a strong turnout for this meet! :)
