Default Anyone put shoulder belts in for rear seats?

My rear seats are actually used from time to time by some of my kids, and I would love to have more than lap belts back there--even if just for the sake of keeping their mother from stroking out. Anyone retrofit shoulder belts back there--which were available late in the run, right? And, if so, what's involved besides sourcing the parts? I'm betting vw parts will fit just fine, but wanted to ask.

I might be wrong but I thought the high mounting holes and reinforcement are part of the later bodies only. I suppose you could weld a tapped plate on there but that seems like a major pain.

Harness bars run through the same area, maybe you could make one work as your upper strap anchor?

I was wondering about this just the other day. It'd be a nice upgrade now that I have a family and all.....

+1 - I think it was 88 and later that had the shoulder harness. You will need to weld in the mounting plate and change the side carpet in the back to mount a stock setup with a shoulder harness.

The mounting bolt location by the shoulder is there. The mounting location for the seat belt reel is missing in the back.

My car is an 88 and the bolt holes are there, but it's just lap belts.
