Yea, it's important if you want to win races from a rolling start. Other than that, others use it to load the turbo up for autoX and track work. Also, you can try launch while balancing the clutch brake and gas...not good for the clutch but you'll get a serious jump off the line

Tried to brakeboost, i need some geting used to it. But yeah its great, since my car takes bit longer to gather boost, i have some pre turbo exhaust leaks, ordering new gaskets for headers, is there a gasket for a pipe going to wastegate ? I think there is a leak there on connection, and i have one more on crossover pipe to turbocharger, all those connections have black smudge around

Question: what is the difference between copper gaskets and regular?

copper gaskets can be reused unless torn, regular gaskets are one time use once torqued down. I prefer the copper ones though they cost a bit more. If you are handy, you can just get a sheet of dead soft copper and cut your own gaskets.

You guys mean like doing a brake-stand without spinning the tires? Left foot braking to get into boost?

The wastegate connection to the crossover pipe will leak again and again unless the bracket to the torque tube is present.

By the way, has your turbo always made that whine? It could be the mic, but that particular pitch if whine means the turbo is on it's way out. This is also coupled with slow spoolup time and excessive oil consumption

Yeah it started making this noise few months back, i might have a burnt bearing, turbo is water and oil cooled, but in summer my connection to turbo water sensor came of and it wasnt cooled after car was shut off. i dont know how long it may hold but im thinking about sending it for rebuild

+1

But you don't actually *win* races from the start... but this technique can help you have a good start!

Are we talking about the heavy factory wastegate, or the super light tial? I've had both, I ran my tial 38mm without a bracket for 2 years trouble free, but I didn't have the same luck with the original.

'Brake Boosting' is an important boy racer skill. If all you want to do is troll the highway for Honda Civics then it might be useful.
A better investment of time and effort is to learn to heal toe correctly....and once you have that down try out left foot braking to balance the car in a corner....but don't blame me if you crash your car trying to learn it by yourself!

Exactly. All that time you're stomping on the brakes waiting for the turbo to load up, the other guy is gone. You 'feel' like you're going to be faster as you get more of a punch when you eventually lift of the middle pedal but it's an illusion. It used to be a technique that the early turbo racers would employ to get the turbo spooling for corner exit. But these were cars with 7:0.1 c/r or lower. Very laggy. Left foot braking is better learned for balancing a car mid corner by just touching the brakes to pull the nose down / in. Heel and toeing goes without saying.
