Default Do you know this car? Red Turbo S

I don't think it will work but why not try???
I would like to find previous owner of my car or get some more info of it's past. It is a Guards Red 1988 Turbo S I bought late last year from fellow Rennlister from Canada. It took me half a year to bring it back to life but now it's running strong. This winter it will get a full body respray and full interior resto including new sport seats (full leather) and reconditioned dash. Now what I know:
VIN WP0AA2957JN151742
From Auto Check: early 90s in NY, than sold to Connecticut where it spent rest of it's time in US, 200k miles plus on the clock, see below for details.
What I could see when I bought the car: stock motor and suspension, it was tracked before, it had MAF (most probably, I removed old wires) and transmission oil temp gauge, 3 previous damages (minor) - front right corner, front left corner (fender dent only) and rear left corner, APE chip installed
What previous owner stated: The car had a fuel line failure resulting in a small fire. The fire was not enough to damage the stickers on the underside of the hood so it was small or was put out immediately. The previous owner was a Porsche garage in Massachusetts (Len Cummings), http://www.autosportengineering.com/, who I believe bought it as you see it from the owner who had it when the fire happened.
I spoke with Len last December but he didn't mention anything about history of the car.
What is my goal: to find out the history of the car, where it was originally sold, how much it was tracked, how maintained etc. etc. Maybe even somebody still has maintenance booklet??? Just dreaming... See pictures below, these were taken before I rebuilt the car.

Hi Darek! FYI: I don't think that's a real turbo S. The engine code would be 52, not 51. It's also missing the 758 option code, which denotes the 1998 "special model" turbo S. I think it's just a regular 1988 turbo.

030 = club sport version
and
220 = limited slip (assuming it still has the original gearbox)

So those are GOOD things!!!

As far as I know Porsche made around 1600 Turbo S in 1988. Of them 715 were Silver Rose, the rest of them other colors, as per customer demands. This is one of them. It has all the S goodies (gusets, M030, AOR tranny, M44/52 engine - stamped on the block).
Regarding the sticker - my SR car has M758 marked there but no 52 engine - it says 51 but no doubt it is true Silver Rose (CoA in hand)
I have also copy of CoA for this car - all numbers match although it says M44/51 engine - however when you look on the block under matching number it says M44/52.

Somebody more familiar with these cars may chime in but I'm 100% sure this is true S MY 1988, just little less limited that Silver Rose.

Just had a look at CoA - it clearly states 944 Turbo 'S'

Interesting. Maybe the 758 option code was only for the silver roses. But yeah if the engine is m44/52 on the block it should indeed be an S.

It is not. Silver Rose is my another car. I'm looking for info about the red car pictured above.

Me too. That's why I hoped somebody may know this car, especially that one of the previous owners was PCA member. I have no idea if these gullydeckels were fitted in the factory or later.

My 87 944S came with those wheels, they are listed on the windows sticker that came with the car.

IIRC the price was more than $2k.

I would imagine if someone ordered an fully optioned Turbo S they would have been an option to choose from.

I sincerely doubt that someone would order these over the Clubsports and I don't believe those dish wheels came in the proper size for the TS.

Well, someone put them on this car so it's not that crazy of a theory.
They also fit over TurboS brakes just fine.

They are 7 and 8", standard TS size tires (225 front and 245 rear)

That doesn't change the fact that if someone really liked the manhole cover wheels (god forbid) they were an option to order. I'm not saying somebody did for this TS, or that is was a good idea, just pointing out they were an option.......

Jeez, we argue about the silliest things around here. Where is Lart when you need him?
