Chris, is this the same (cup) clutch you are talking about?

...and is this an upgrade from a stock clutch?

The debate about the merits of lightening the rotating mass, some folks like to believe that it will make their car faster because it makes more 'power'.

and yes, there are several alternate universes and each has its own 'real world'!

The original clutch disk had some small springs in the hub that were known to break and jam up the pressure plate. Other than the deletion of this small springs the 'Cup' clutch is the same.

You've been watching too much Stargate SG1.

If the motor arrives to redline earlier with a motor full of lighter components then ergo the car must be faster. It won't be more powerful but it has to be faster.

That's the point, which many seem to overlook and sometimes foolishly focus on dyno curves instead. That's another debate though.

To Chris's point earlier, I am running a stock '89 clutch on the CA car. Currently running 20 psi boost on E85 with no slippage. I have a complete brand new Spec 3 hybrid and FW sitting in a box over 1.5 years thinking I would have to replace the original. I sure as hell am not going through the pain of replacing the clutch without being forced too. I have not had the car on the dyno, but can assure I am over 350 at 20 psi. I have 295's out back and have serious traction issues.

I have a Spec Stage 4 with an S2 flywheel in my race car and it slips under load with more than 1.0 bar of boost so for my engine this is a very good alternative.

Wow Duke! Slipping a Stage 4 with only 1 Bar of boost, that is a monster engine. Very few in the world will get to experience that kind of power. I am assuming in high gears?

Im very interested how the engagement will be like? It'll be neat if it has a full faced clutch option like what i've got. It'll be smoother then a 6 puck and have just as much grab.

I had a reasonably new 951 disk/pp slip in high gears at about 350rwhp. There are many disk/pp combos that will hold more than enough for very high HP cars -- the hard part is finding one that will hold power with nice street manners. The KEP/Cup combo is literally as smooth as stock and holds enough for 99% of the cars out there.

I hope with my earlier posts I'm not giving the impression that I think removing weight adds power. As for me I needed to replace the stock clutch so I chose the spec. I just like a faster revving engine.....call it a cosmetic preference thats all. What I chose to do was simply personal choice
"edit...the lighter spec is not the only lighter thing I did"

It now has a price. $1799.00. Not 3-5k like someone thought.
