I originally bought the car for DE's on road courses, and it's been a great car for that. It's evolved into my primary hobby. I get as much or more satisfaction from the challenge of making improvements - large, small, aesthetic, whatever - as I do in driving it on the track. Unfortunately my hobby is sitting in the U.S. while we're stationed overseas, but I'll be home for quite a while this Christmas break and plan to spend a lot of that time with the car.
I'm not sure if it's a technical term... but I have "Panty-Dropper Project" as the file name for my parts lists/expenses/misc spreadsheet for my car
Ok so my first reaction was, "A 944? What kind of girls drop their panties for a 944??" Then I remembered an autocross this past season where this little asian girl walked all the way across a huge parking lot to tell me how cool she thinks my car is... I'll quote, "It's a REAL car. WAY cooler than my boyfriends stupid Evo!"
So I guess it *is* possible....
As for what I'm building my car for... well... it's a toy. Fun street car first, competent autocross car a very close 2nd, and good on the track 3rd. Stiff ride (450/350 + TB's and Bilsteins) but not awful, still has R12 A/C, S2 gearbox w/Guard diff, bolt-in rollbar with Recaro SRDs, quiet muffler, MP3 + Bluetooth, etc. Probably about as close to a racecar as I'd want for street use. Getting around in downtown Chicago when I drive it to the office on nice days is a little brutal dodging potholes and manhole covers.
