Default Bob's Build

It took a while but I like the results. The pictures are taken pretty much in order of the build.

Nascar bars on both sides

Primed roll cage from the back

Here is the unfinished dashboard, ultimately finished it in a satin black

Roll cage and interior painted

The boby was widened by 3-in (1 1/2-in either side). Fiberglass fenders in front. The rear fenders were cut and modified. Hood is fiberglass with an integrated vent.

Cold air intake, intake is through the old fog light. Gets a little "ram" air action at speed.

Engine ****

Knifed crank at home in the block

Coated pistons, ceramic on top teflon on the sides

3 liter block ready for the head

Header side of the engine

Testing the clock on the turbo. The clocking bolts were a tight fit.

Final product without the splitter

Nice going Bob! What size is the motor? You're running Motec too, specs? Did you re-wire much of the car?
Nice dash too. Bit of work there. Power to weight figures yet?

The motor is a 3 liter we really haven't pushed that hard yet, we are developing around 370 rwhp with a peak of around 400 ft-lbs rw torque at a little less than 1 bar boost and a temp of around 85 F. The turbo is set up for between 2500 and 6000 rpm after that it runs our of legs. The car is heavy as I elected to keep the metal bits and it weighs in at around 2600 lbs.

The wiring in the car has been almost totally replaced, we pretty much built a custom wiring harness for the Motec. I am running an older M4 which I plan on upgrading in the spring. While there is nothing wrong with the unit I am having problems finding a computer that will talk to it. The new M84s are fairly reasonable now that Motec is getting some competition and almost any computer can operate them.

2600lbs is light if it's all still metal. I'm at about 2550lbs with fuel and that's with hardly any metal left so you've done well if that's where you're at! Sounds understressed and good for longevity. Be good to get some videos when you can.

Interesting piston design - no quench area?

They are Arias pistons. Needed to have a relatively large combustion volume to get the compression ratio to low 8s to 1.

Nice work!

I like how nicely the IC oulet was integrated into the hood, who did you get it from?

Good to see the wing is already being put to use. Everyone knows the main purpose of a wing is to hold your beer(s).

Yes, a big bowl is needed to keep the 8:1 - but the quench area on a 951 is an important part of the old school design - it creates a lot of turbulence in the combustion chamber as the air/fuel mixture is pushed towards the center of the cylinder as the piston approaches TDC.

The hood and outlet are both from Lindsey. Then it was just a lot of cutting, fitting, filling with fiberglass and sanding.

As you are above my knowledge index on this, you have taken me beyond what I can talk about I will stop while I can. I am probably leaving some efficiency and hp on the table but at this point the car is far more capable than my driving capabilities. When it comes time for a motor refresh I will do more research on pistons but these are the ones Arias recommended so I am stuck with them for a while.

You can also set your barbeque on it. When you imbibe your favorite refreshment.

Here are some different views, a couple without graphics. Let me know what you would like to see and I will make them this weekend.

Looking forward

Car straight out of paint, no graphics
