Default Oil cooler line replacement as maintenance?

Can the oil cooler lines be expected to last the life of the car? I'm in the midst of a rebuild following an engine failure and wonder if it is worth replacing these lines complete. They're $400 so hence not an automatic decision.

Is that OEM price or rebuilt hose price from local shop?

I got about 6 ft of oil hoses made to run from the console to 2 KISS coolers for $228 all-in. Even in oz for the small length of hoses it should be cheaper.

Eric, you should be able to get the OE hoses rebuilt by a hydraulic shop. They reuse the end fittings with new hose and reswage. A few posts on here about that. Maybe $100?
Cheers,
Mike

Mine leaked from underneath the fittings. I had them rebuilt by a hydraulics shop, but it was tricky to fit the new ones because the originals are specialy formed. You probably want to have the new ones made a little longer. If possible, I would get the hose first, figure out how you'd like to route it, and then mark the hose/fittings for perfect orientation before getting them permanently fitted.

Mine were also extremely difficult to break loose on the car due to the combination of being seized, and the lack of access. I'd break them loose & reinstall if you have the engine out, even if you are not replacing them just yet. That way they should be easy to remove when you are ready to replace them.

I just ordered new ones so at least they have the late style connection to the oil filter housing rather than those difficult to remove AN fittings.
