Is there an easy/cheap replacement for this section of hose?
I know lindsey sells a silicone one, in colors even (LR-AOS-102-XL), but can I just get some heater hose to fit the inside diameter of the hose that comes off the aos valve (with the air control valve in it) and run it back to the Jboot?

I could never get heater hose or even the straight Lindsey hose to connect up to the J-boot neatly. The hose really needs to be moulded to worm its way around and under the intake manifold maze.
My solution was to take a stock vacuum manifold, grind the unused vacuum lines off it and then have the whole thing zinc plated so that it could be used with the pre-moulded factory style hose.
I have an example of it below. You can see a newly zinc plated vacuum manifold next to it as a comparison. The attached hose is the silicone replacement that Lindsey makes.
On a side note, it's for sale since I converted to a completely different setup with catch can. The stock style newly zinc plated vacuum manifold above it is available also.

I once went to Pepboys and they let me browse their hose selection until I found a few good candidates. I made one work by slicing in one of those grey barbed plumbing pipes from the hardware store. Ran it like that for a few months without issue, but eventually went to the modified hard pipe.

So, like s14kev, I modified the stock aos tube by removing the other hoses that were on it and cleaning it up (actually, the landlord did). Looks good, I'll put pics up when it's installed to show fit.
