I just had an alignment done on my 1986 944 Turbo. The steering worked great, but now when I get it up to highway speed, when I hit large up and down bumps in the highway, it feels like the car is not going directly up and down. It feels like the suspension is going sideways. It almost feels like when you are driving a car in really high wind! When I go "fast" on country roads, it is almost scary because if I hit a bump in the road, the car will feel like it will track into the wrong lane!

Excessive toe out will cause the car to pull in both directions over bumps, as well as cause it to grab ruts and generally behave as you described..
just got done doing an alignment on my car about an hour ago.
