Exhaust leak

So... I have got an exhaust manifold leak on my '86 951 and was considering three things.
1) Taking the manifold off, cutting off the heat shield for the one cylinder, welding it up, then reattaching the shield
2)Take manifold off, cut off shield for one cyl, weld it up, reattach shield, then ceramic coat the outside of the shields (might sound stupid, but wouldn't it work?)
3) Take manifold off, cut off ALL the shields, weld up the problem, then ceramic coat directly on the manifold
I would take anyone's opinions on this! Durability, power gains, underhood temps, all the good stuff matter to me!

I'd look for a good used replacement. Its VERY difficult to weld 25+ year old Inconel. Inconel is hard to weld anyway, but it crystallizes with age and heat cycling and becomes basically impossible to repair.
