As much as it goes against the grain, this sort of motor is hard to ignore as a viable and (relatively) cheap powerful and reliable option. I just don’t really ‘like’ the sound of a V8 coming out of a small car and have invested way too much time and money to give up on the i4 Porsche motor (Purely subjective reasoning of course), but once you make the decision to cross over to the dark side it’s hard to ignore this sort of powerplant if you want to get serious.

hp/displacement doesn't mean **** outside of magazines. hp/weight is a much better metric to measure an engine's power output with respect to its size.

Yup. Its just like the argument all the skinny guys use in the gym that are bench pressing slightly more than average " Im stronger than you, since Im benching X lbs over my weight "

The answer? Nope. If you and I were both under a 405lb rock, Id get out and you wouldnt. The rock doesnt care about how strong you are for your weight. Same goes for racing, Hp/liter doesnt matter unless youre in a displacement restricted class.

Imagine what a grenade a 4 cylinder 730hp engine would be? If you need to make more than 350 hp reliably at the track, and on a regular basis, its time to look into other power plants

come on man. the torque of an LS engine stomps on the Porsche flat six crap.

understated in the endless Car and Driver vs real world.

it would be sick to see this incredible car running that engine.

still, how do you get all that power to the ground with no driveline/transaxle/axle issues?

what about 600+ hp, silky smooth torque curve, bulletproof and usable power past 8,000 rpm for $10,000 with the same LS7 block?

yes. $10,000 and out the door.

and about what you should expect to see running your 3 1/2" exhaust....
