Default 968 V8 Swap Thread

If anyone is wondering if the CTS-V accessory drive will work on the 944/968 LSx swap...it will. The PS reservoir may need to be relocated in some applications.

Not to derail your thread but what happened to your yellow car and the one Tom was doing for you?

The yellow 944 is in Canada. I sold the body/rollcage and the car is back on the track with a new owner. I think Tom is building a car for someone else. My current project is a 968 that Tom helped me find.

Here are my fasteners etc. ready for zinc plating and some pieces ready to be anodized.

Many F-Body parts are NLA and this adds 0.75" clearance over the F-Body drive system.

I don't see there being an issue with the accessory drive and the steering rack. Am I missing something?

Very cool, I would love to come by and lend a hand one day as I know we are local to each other. Good luck and looks to be a killer project.

I ran to the garage and checked...the rack and harmonic balancer will be miles apart. As for the mock up block, a friend of mine "can't understand how that won't melt"....

0.75" more clearance where? From what? The only big clearance issues I had (and everyone else) is with the throttle body.

Some folks feel: 1) that the alternator is more securely fastened with the CTS-V (Corvette) style and 2) the late model LSx water pump is better (the CTS-V allows for the later water pump to be used without 0.75" spacers.
I am using a 3.5" thick radiator and I want as much fan as I can squeeze in there. The low profile fans don't seem to be enough in certain conditions.

Have people had issues with the alternator falling off? I sure haven't. I don't think I have any spacers on with my water pump, I had a stock F body pump until recently when I got an Evans Cooling one from TonyG.

I have the RH/RD radiator, it's pretty large, along with the Spal fan. I wouldn't mind swapping that out for the Mercury Cougar/Ford Probe dual fan setup, but I haven't had any issues with the Spal fan so far.

That's at altitude with triple digit heat plus track work...

Looks purty, but those calipers wouldn't stay yellow long on my car!
