and, of course, you are talking about a FOUR wheel alignment, right?

Hey guys

Thx for all the thoughtful replies. I'll address each question individually:

computer alignment? yes:

4-wheel alignment? yes.

done by a Porsche shop? Yes, Power-Tech in NJ.

steering rack bushings? all the bushings were just replaced, as it did have some mushiness, but the problem existed before and after the switch with no change.

as for the corner-weight question, well, it does have a front sway bar (30mm hollow), but it was also on the previous sway bar, too. possible we had both sway bars mounted a bit wrong? Too much tension on one side?

pulls to the left same when accel & steady? Seems more when just steady. And worse when coasting to a stop or braking, it seems.

upper strut mounts? the shocks were just changed, and the problem was before and after, so seems unlikely.

Seized brake or seized wheel bearing? I like this theory. Seems possible that bearings on one side would be more worn out than the other.

Open to any other analyses.

Working on getting a data sheet from them. They're puzzled, too.

The early mounts are notorious for having slop in them.

Well, for a 10 degree pull on the steering wheel and a correct alignment, think I would look at the Rack, internally. Try taking the belt off the PS to see if Hydraulic's are the issue.

Any result on this? Got the same issue. Steering rack does leak a bit though; wondering if that was it

Thread is 5 years old and the op totaled his car 2 years ago. iirc he found uneven pad wear due to a binding left front brake caliper that was also the cause of the car pulling to the left.

Thanks for the update. Hope the op is alright. I’ll check the pads!

On my way home yesterday, the car tracked perfectly. I was heading eastbound. Geez

I guess after wrenching on it for months, you forget what it’s like to drive a sports car.. sensitive to the wind, road, and geographic direction

I'm gonna put in my two cents too, I had a similar problem on my 911 and problem can be seen on any car. My problems was as simple as tires being too old and hard (relatively speaking). They looked good but one tire was harder than the other and so it pulled no matter how many different technicians worked on it. Then, in a strike of genius, one tech load tested my tires (usually done during balancing) and found out one tire was harder than the other. I got new tires up front. Guess what, it tracked straight after and I felt like a dumb-A$$. Live and learn!

You know what? I’ve never corrected a tracking issue with an alignment. In fact, every time I’ve take a car for alignment, the numbers were pretty close and even if they made an adjustment, the difference wasn’t dramatic.

The biggest changes have been when switching tires & wheels.

One time a shop told me to buy Michelin tires because they are the most round! They said all the others give them issues.

Just my experience... but it’s a lot of it
